Executive Director and 8th Grade Science

Paul is one of the founding teachers at CCLCS. Paul was lured to CCLCS from teaching science at a small school in Western Mass.  He has a BA in French from the College of the Holy Cross, a BS in zoology from UMass/Amherst and an M.Ed from UMass/Amherst.  He lives in Eastham with his wife. He spends his spare time playing sports and enjoying nature.

Associate Director

Catherine graduated from Boston College in 2003 with a B.A. in English and again in 2008 with M.Ed. Prior to arriving at CCLCS, she taught 7th grade Language Arts in Brookline at the Dexter and Southfield Schools, as well as 5th grade in the Newton Public Schools. Catherine joined the CCLCS community as the 6th grade Language Arts teacher and served in that position for six years. More recently, she has earned her M. Ed in School Administration from Simmons College and made the shift from the classroom to administration in 2013. She resides in Harwich with her husband, two kids and dog. 

6th Grade Science

Brian earned a B.S. from the University of Colorado, Boulder.  He lives in South Orleans with his wife, Erin, and daughter, Autumn, and twins Skylar and Zoe.

Special Education

Kristen is a licensed Mental Health counselor who moved to Cape Cod from Florida where she worked as a school based counselor.  She spent 9 years working as a children's therapist and has since found her way to CCLCS. Kristen brings a lot of creative approaches and ideas for working with students.  She is always up for an adventure, and in her spare times she enjoys boating, beaching, and playing with her husband Kegan and her son Chase!

Special Education

Gary pursued his Master of Arts, Teaching at Manhattanville College (Purchase, NY) before moving to the Cape in 2012. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston, MA, and a Massachusetts Educator License in Middle School Math/Science. He was a substitute teacher at CCLCS from 2012 to 2015. Before becoming a teacher, he worked as a mechanical design engineer for 15+ years at a number of innovative electronics companies on the East Coast and in Silicon Valley, including Motorola, BBN, and Phillips. He also spent several years as a stay-at-home Dad raising two daughters.

Speech/Language Pathologist

Challis earned her Bachelors in Communication Disorders from Bridgewater State University in 1999 and her Masters in Speech Pathology from Plattsburgh State University in 2001. She has continued her education in the field of reading. Challis enjoys the energy and spirit of working with middle school students to help develop their literacy skills.  She lives in West Barnstable with her husband, Chris, daughter, Molly and dog, Rainy.

7th Grade Science

After seventeen years of teaching high school biology and middle school life science at Cape Cod Academy and three years of teaching biology at Sturgis Charter School, Aaron comes to CCLCS to teach his favorite age group, seventh grade. Upon receiving his B.A. from Colby College in English, he headed down South to put his coursework in biology to use in the Microbiology Department at the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Inspired by working with students as a teaching assistant, he turned his attention to teaching and earned his Georgia Educator Certificate in science. He spent his first full year of teaching at Carrabassett Valley Academy, a small private school located near the base of Sugarloaf Mountain in Maine. When given an opportunity to return to the place he grew up, Aaron made his way to the Cape in 1997 to teach science and coach soccer, lacrosse, and cross country skiing at Cape Cod Academy. Aaronlives in Dennis with his wife and daughter (CCLCS ’17) and enjoys a number of hobbies when not driving to his teenage daughter’s enumerable obligations.

Special Education

Julie earned her BA from the University of Denver, having majored in psychology and education. She received her Masters in Special Education from Cambridge College and is a MA certified Special Education teacher. Julie and her husband Dave have enjoyed living in Chatham most of their married lives, and have two daughters who are now grown and off on their own. Julie's interests include her family, of course, as well as running and anything related to the outdoors and the water.

Band

Betsy is a graduate of Boston University, and directs the CCLCS Band and Select Band program. Betsy is principal oboist with the Cape Cod Symphony; she brings vast experience and great enthusiasm to our band program. She is also an avid tennis player.

7th Grade Social Studies

Daniella joined CCLCS in 2003. She loves teaching about ancient civilizations and especially enjoys sharing stories from her archaeological digs in Bulgaria and England! She has an M.A. in Education and Museum Studies from Tufts University and majored in History and Art History at Connecticut College.  Mrs. Garran has spent nearly every summer of her life at Cape Cod Sea Camps where she met her husband.  Her first book, A History of Collegiate Rowing in America, was published in 2012 by Schiffer Publishing and her second book, Celebrating Summer Camp was published in the Spring of 2014. The Garran's daughter Eliza joined the family in February of 2014 and is eager to learn all about ancient history and archaeology as she grows up!

Choral Director

Mark joined CCLCS in 2015. Mark has taught Music to grades pre-K-12, started the music and drama departments of St. Matthew School in Cranston, RI, St Pius X School in S. Yarmouth and Saint John Paul II in Hyannis. Mark is a graduate of the Crane School of Music, SUNY POTSDAM. He also participated in the Saratoga Potsdam Choral Institute at Skidmore College, singing with the Philadelphia Orchestra and also the Liberty Weekend Chorus.

Special Education and Health

Susanna has been at CCLCS for over a decade. She enjoys, immeasurably, her work here.  A graduate of Smith College, she has an MFA in creative writing from Goddard College.  She lives in South Orleans with her husband, children, and hound dogs.  She loves sharing the amazing journey that is middle school with her colleagues and the fantabulous charter kids.

Health and Recreation

Allison, a.k.a. Miss Allie, received her B.A. in Human Development from Lesley University and is currently working on her Graduate Degree, also through Lesley. Allie and her daughter, Zukhra, live in Eastham with a herd of animal friends! Miss Allie has been teaching Health and Rec at CCLCS since 2001.

Art

Deborah has a B.A. from Rowan University and an M.Ed. from the Tyler School of Art, Temple University. She studied at the Maryland Institute of Art, Rutgers University, RISD, University of the Arts and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. She taught art at the elementary, high school and college level. This was Debby’s 20th summer as the Art Director at the Cape Cod Sea Camps. She lives with her husband in Brewster.

7th Grade Math

Katie is a recent graduate of Bridgewater University where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Elementary Education.  She is certified to teach mathematics for grades 5-8, as well as elementary in grades 1-6.  She is also a Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) certified teacher. Currently she lives with her active family in Barnstable where she enjoys paddle boarding, running, and her hobby farm of 2 goats, 6 chickens, a bunny and a duck. 

6th Grade Math

Annie is a perpetual learner who resides in Harwich, MA with her husband two daughters. She earned her Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lesley University and taught all sixth grade subjects at Chatham Middle School and, most recently, sixth grade science at Monomoy Regional Middle School. Annie holds state certifications for all subjects grades 1-6 as well as in math/science grades 5-8. She earned her level 1 certificate for International Baccalaureate math and was the Barnstable County Science Educator of the Year for 2014. Most recently, she became an EVERFI certified STEM teacher and is active in the local STEM community. During the summer, you will find her building robots and making liquid nitrogen ice cream at the Chatham Marconi Maritime Center. 

Spanish

Sandra “Senora H.,” as she is known to her students, learned her Spanish by buying a one-way ticket to Madrid, Spain and staying there until she had mastered the language.  While there, she decided to get a Master’s degree in the language from New York University.  Señora hopes that all her students will someday have the opportunity to live in a Spanish-speaking country, but until then she promises to make their experience as authentic as possible here in the U.S.  Prior to teaching at CCLCS, Senora H. taught Spanish at Cape Cod Tech and English as a Foreign Language in Spain. Senora lives in Dennis with her husband, two children, cat, a dog, and a guinea pig. She also volunteers as a World Music deejay at WOMR in Provincetown, and plays music in espanol as well as other languages. 

Special Education

Elizabeth is a graduate of Middlebury College. Before moving to Cape Cod, Liz worked as a Senior Editor for Disney Press in New York City. In 2010 she relocated to Chatham, where she continues to do freelance work for Disney, authoring young adult novels based on movies such as Cinderella, Frozen, Beauty and the Beast and Pete's Dragon. In addition to writing, Liz has done work for the Monomoy Properties Group, was a substitute teacher and seminar volunteer at CCLCS, and co-owns a restaurant (the Lazy Lobster in Chatham) with her husband Caleb. She is the proud mom of a beautiful son and three hairy dogs. Liz is excited to be a part of the special education department this year. 

Special Education Coordinator/6th Grade Special Ed. Teacher

Jen is a native Cape Codder excited to return for another fabulous year at CCLCS. She previously taught at Harwich Elementary School and the Laurel School in Brewster. She received her BS in Early Childhood Education from Colby-Sawyer College, M.Ed. in Special Education from Framingham State College, and C.A.G.S. in School Administration from American International College.

8th Grade Social Studies

Hannah received a B.A. in International Studies and Psychology from the George Washington University in Washington, DC. Before becoming a classroom teacher she taught in Northern Tanzania and South Africa, volunteered in the DC public schools, and worked in outdoor education in New Hampshire. Prior to joining the staff at CCLCS Hannah worked in 7th and 8th grade at Edmunds Middle School in Burlington, Vermont while completing her Masters of Arts in Teaching in Middle School Curriculum at the University of Vermont. She graduated again in 2017 with a M.Ed in Education Administration from Endicott College, and is licensed in Middle School Humanities and School Administration. At CCLCS Hannah teaches 8th grade and coordinates the school’s portfolio and seminar programs. Outside of school she is also a yoga instructor and ice skating coach.

Technology Director

Mindy earned her B.A. in Mass Communication from Westfield State University and a M.Ed. in Instructional Technology from Bridgewater State University. She has two decades of technology education experience; first in video production, and later teaching and coordinating instructional technology. She is proud to be a computer geek and a local Cape Codder. In her spare time, she loves the beach, photography, reading, and spending time with her family.

School Psychologist

Mary obtained her BS in Education from Lesley College and her MA in Psychology from Adelphi University. She enjoys being an advisor to Student Government at CCLCS. When Mrs. Marvullo is not in school, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading and going to the beach.

8th Grade Science and Math

Andrew holds his BS  in Biology from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. Andy has been teaching and tutoring in Mathematics and Science since 2007, and has worked at CCLCS in varying capacities since 2009. This year, he teaches 8th grade Science and Mathematics. He is certified in High School Biology and Middle School Mathematics, loves running, hiking, birding, chess, and meeting or exceeding the energy demands of his 5 year old son. He lives in Dennis with his wife Elizabeth, and son, Hayden.

8th Grade Math

Liz has taught at CCLCS since 2004.  She received her BA in Mathematics from Mount Holyoke College, and is also an alumna of Cape Cod Community College.  In addition to her mathematics teaching, Liz has had extensive experience with outdoor and experiential education.

Special Education

Emily is a CCLCS graduate who is excited to be back to experience the CCLCS world from an educator’s point of view. Emily received her BA in English from Wheaton College, as well as minors in Education, Psychology, and Studio Art. Emily lives in Sagamore with her tortoise Porthos.

Office Assistant/Lunch Coordinator

Andrea joined the CCLCS team in 2015.  She lives in East Dennis with her husband Christian, son and former CCLCS student Jacob, daughter and former CCLCS student Chelsea and dogs Misty and Snickers.

Administrative Assistant

Sallie received her BA in business/economics from Rhode Island College. Sallie started her CCLCS career as a substitute teacher, then moved into the office as the lunch coordinator and secretary working along side Marion Lay for three years. She is the parent of two alumnae students who are now in the teaching profession. Sallie lives in Brewster with her husband Paul.

6th and 7th Grade Math

Carrie teaches 6th and 7th grade Math, is the Yearbook coordinator and our Field Hockey Coach.  She holds her primary Bachelor of Art Education from Mt. Holyoke College, a secondary certification through Smith College and a Master of Art Education through UMass-Dartmouth. Her Master's Thesis focused on how drawing can enhance student focus and engagement in the classroom.  She lives in Dennis with her husband Shane, awesome kids Aurora and Zaq and their loving Bulldog pups.

6th Grade Language Arts

Susy has degrees in English from Colby College and linguistic anthropology and ESL from the University of South Carolina. She joined the CCLCS community in 2013 and teaches 6th grade language arts. Her areas of interest include creative writing, reading workshop and Native American history She lives in Dennis with her husband Joe, three daughters, exchange students from China, and an assortment of pets.

7th Grade Language Arts

Kate returned to the Cape in 2010, after receiving a B.A in Communications and English from Quinnipiac University in 2008. After graduating, Kate taught English as a second language in Prague, Czech Republic.  She is looking forward to working at the school she went to as a student!

String Ensemble

Elizabeth is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory. Liz was a cellist in the Bergen (Norway) Philharmonic, and a freelance musician in Stockholm, Sweden before settling on the Cape in 1991 and is a member of the Cape Cod Symphony. Liz teaches private students at home and at the Cape Conservatory in Barnstable. She lives with fellow Schultze-Ericsson Duo member Bo, and is mom to cellists Sam and Annika. An avid cyclist, Liz can be found biking the Cape in all seasons.

Business Manager, Athletic Director and part-time Math teacher

Karen has been part of CCLCS since its birth.  All four of her children attended the Charter School.   Karen holds an Associates in Accounting from CCCC and a BS in Psychology, Minor in Math and Education from UMass Dartmouth.  She is certified in Middle School Math and Social Studies.  Karen loves to travel and read in her off time. She lives in Yarmouth with her husband Ray, occasionally a few children and grandchildren and two golden retrievers.

7th Grade Spanish

Colleen’s love for Spanish began in 7th grade as a middle school student at CCLCS. After graduating from Nauset Regional High School she earned a BA in Spanish at the College of the Holy Cross and an MEd in Secondary Education at UMass Boston. She taught Spanish in grades 6-8 for over a decade in the greater Boston area before returning home to the Cape. Colleen lives in Orleans and spends her free time exploring nature with her rambunctious Wheaten Terrier, practicing yoga, and spending time with family and friends.

Nurse

Kate graduated with a Bachelors in Nursing from Northeastern University more than 30 years ago and have enjoyed working with children ever since. She lives in Brewster with her husband and three noisy dogs. In Kate's limited free times she enjoys gardening, the beach and all things having do with New England Sports Teams!

Judy Stacy R.N.

Nurse

Judy graduated from Fitchburg State College with a B. S. in Nursing.  In her 20th year at CCLCS, Ms. Stacy lives in Dennis with her husband and a crazy dog. Her four children and three granddaughters, who live from Maine to Georgia, visit frequently.  She is an avid walker and gardener, who is somewhat obsessed with health, fitness & fashion.

Exploration

Josh returns for his 20th year at CCLCS, and his fourth in his current role of 6th Grade Exploration teacher. Before moving to Explorations he spent 14 years as the sixth grade math teacher.  A graduate of Nauset Regional Schools, Mr. Stewart studied American History and Studio Art at the Univ. of Vermont, and earned a M.Ed in Middle School Education from Lesley College. When not teaching, he spends his free time in or on the water, cheering on the Red Sox, and exploring Cape Cod. He lives in Orleans with his wife, their two children, and “Murray the Dog.”

Special Education

Dana graduated from Westfield State College with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and Liberal Studies.  After graduating, Dana worked with younger children before making the switch to middle school.  After a few years at CCLCS Dana decided to go back to school.  She graduated from Northeastern University in the fall of 2011 with a master's degree in Special Education.  Dana lives in Orleans with her husband and two cats.

Secretary

Diane is a native of Seattle and lives on Cape Cod in Sagamore. She lives with her fugitive dog named Duncan, a cat named Gracie, and five chickens who wish to remain anonymous. Diane is the mother of 4 CCLCS graduates. She has a happy affiliation with CCLCS for over 10 years - as a parent, a volunteer, a board member, and most recently as an employee. 

ESL Teacher

Keira has taught Visual Arts K-12 and ESL 6-12th grade in both public and private schools in Los Angeles and New York. She loves the middle school grades for its excitement and energy that the students and teachers bring. Keira studied Fine Arts at Boston University, she graduated with a BFA in sculpture and a minor in Art History. She has teaching credential in Art and ESL from California State University at Northridge.

6th Grade Social Studies

Kathryn has taught at CCLCS since 2004.  Previously, Kathryn taught fifth grade at an international school in Guatemala.  She earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont, and a Masters in Education from Lesley University. Kathryn lives in Orleans with her husband, two kids, and her dog.

8th Grade Language Arts

Amy and her husband, Seamus, live in Brewster with their daughter Ella, son Asher, and their crazy cats, Roshi and Buoy.  Before coming to CCLCS in 2005, Amy taught in Pennsylvania for eight years.  She has an undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s degree from Arcadia University.  When not teaching, Amy enjoys teaching indoor cycling classes at Bodystrong, reading, skiing, and playing with Ella and Asher.
