Nature’s Classroom

For the past 16 years the sixth grade team has traveled to a Nature’s Classroom campus for an amazing time of community building, friendship forming, and adventuring while taking some great classes with the N.C. staff. This year we are staying local and will not be spending the night, but we will have TWO EXTENDED DAYS to soak in as much NC fun as we can.

Please read all the details below and fill out the permission slip, along with the Nature’s Classroom paperwork, by FRIDAY, September 16. Nature's Classroom paperwork

WHEN: September 28, 29, and 30

WHERE: Camp Wingate Kirkland at 79 White Rock Road, Yarmouth Port

DROP OFF: Students should arrive at school at the normal school times each day.  We will bus/van them over.

PICK UP: On Wednesday and Thursday, we will stay at the camp until 7pm.  We will then bus/van students to one of two locations - the Cape Cod Rail Trail parking at 460 Station Ave in South Yarmouth (Exit 8; 4 minute drive from camp) OR to CCLCS (Exit 11; 15 minute drive from camp). You will choose your preferred drop-off location on the attached permission slip.

On Friday, the students will be back at school for normal dismissal at 3pm.

WHAT TO BRING: A backpack with a nut-free snack, a full water bottle, and layers of clothes

WHAT TO WEAR:  Comfortable clothes to be outside and closed-toed shoes

WHAT TO EAT: Lunch will be provided both days and dinner will be provided on Wednesday and Thursday.  But, be sure to bring a nut-free snack each day.

MEDICATION: There is a registered nurse on site. If your child normally takes medication during the school day, the NC nurse will administer it. If your child takes any medication after school between the hours of 3-7pm and can’t wait until they get home at 7pm to take it, please contact our nurse, Kate Smith. You will need to drop off the medication and paperwork with her BEFORE the trip.

COST: CCLCS is covering half the cost of this trip, but we are asking families for the other $100, which includes all three days. This also covers the cost of three lunches and two dinners. You can pay by check or using the PayPal link on our website under “Families”. We do have scholarship funds available, if you need assistance with the cost. Please contact Karen Scichilone (kscichilone@cclcs.info) or Katie Prchlik (kprchlik@cclcs.info) about scholarships.
