Egyptological Excavation project
Assuming the role of archaeologist, students embark on an "excavation" at a site of their choosing in Egypt. There, they keep a journal and unearth two "artifacts" from ancient Egyptian culture. Upon their "return," they write an article for a leading newspaper.

The Imperial Scrapbook Project (ancient Rome)
Students assume the identity of a Roman emperor and create a scrapbook chronicling their experiences. They will "send" two postcards, illustrate a map of the empire under their reign, and write ten journal entries reflecting on their time as emperor.
