MARINE PLANKTON PROJECT |
This was called a Lions Mane or Red Jelly(Cyanea capillata). These happen to be the biggest speicies of jellyfish in the world. The one we got was young and still small. These jellyfish can grow up to over 3 feet in width. These are rare, but some have been found that are over 8 feet across. These will have tentacles that are over 200 feet in length. These are usually found in the northern sections of the Atlantic Ocean. We opened up more presses this seminar. They were pretty nice looking. Also during this seminar Nick and Dylan decided to do thier project on jellyfish. Dylan started this by trying to figure out how long the tentacles would be if it were larger.
