Arts Foundation of Cape Cod Awards Student Art Scholarships
The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod awarded the fifth annual Comcast Student Art Scholarship Awards last night at a special reception at Cape Cod Academy.
Kasey Rayder, a Chatham resident and senior at Chatham High School, won first place in the annual scholarship competition. Rayder's winning design will be featured on the official Arts Foundation of Cape Cod T-shirt commemorating the 23rd Annual TD Banknorth Annual Pops by the Sea concert on August 3, 2008.
"We are proud to provide scholarship funding to student artists and support their high school art departments to emphasize the importance of art education in our local schools," said Tom Coughlin, Vice President of Comcast's Southeastern Massachusetts Region, which sponsors the annual student art competition. "We are committed to investing in the communities we serve and are happy to congratulate this year's winners."
Both Rayder and Chatham High School will each receive a $500 cash prize for the winning design. Second place winner Lauren LeDuc and her sponsoring art department at Barnstable High School will both receive $250. Third place winners Josh Lind and Brandi Peake of Cape Cod Regional Technical High School will each receive $100, and an additional $100 will be awarded to their sponsoring school art department. Honorable mentions went to Natalie Ferro of the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School, Sabrina Johnson of Nauset Regional High School, and Eric Mack of the Cape Cod Lighthouse Charter School. Each honorable mention winner and their school will receive a $50 prize.
